With the Poetry in Print series printmaker Joe Buchanan and writer Maria McMillan continue their long standing collaboration that includes fringe festivals, giant poetry banners hanging from buildings, protest street theatre, satirical leaflets, two children and thousands of meals which Joe cooks exceptionally well and Maria eats with some genius. Text has been drawn from Maria's poetry, and the linocut illustration, letterpress typesetting and printing is done by Joe.
For the linocut illustration Joe recut a print of a ship he originally printed for the cover of Maria's 2013 fictional family history poetry book 'The Rope Walk'. The ship is inspired by The 'Adamant' a 19th Century immigrant ship that took hundreds of people from England to Australia and New Zealand. The 'Adamant' is also the name of the poem these lines are from.
Text was set in Gloucester Condensed. Lincout and letterpress were printed on the 8-5 Adana Press Joe shares with his twin brother and which lives in the Diatom Press studio, an old railway worker's hut in their mother's back garden.
All prints are securely packaged with card and wrapped in plastic helping ensure they arrive in pristine condition. This print is also available as part of the Poetry & Print - Set of 3, and the Poetry & Print - Set of 5.
